                              Summer Blog!

During this summer I’ve experienced so many new things and met so many wonderful people. All the smiles and memories that us leadership students share between each other and the secrets and advices we all passed around will always be a part of my middle school years. There were moments that I knew this is where I want to be, this group of people, and this environment. And today I’ll be sharing some of my favorite memories this summer.

One of my favorite memories was on Friday August 1, 2025, which was when the leadership program and alumnis went on a field trip to Ala Moana Regional Park, and it was a blast!(even though they took our phones). We swam for 4hours straight. We sprayed each other with waterguns, picked up random rocks, and even met a former Olympian Swimmer who swam for France!(forgot his name) but he was really cool and got our floaty that was very very very far away. They also buried Markwil in the sand which was very eventful. And our unicorn floaty is a warrior for surviving what it’s been through.

Then we ate- IT WAS DELICIOUS! We ate steak, chicken, Portuguese sausage, and corn! Also everyone bought snacks and I loved Kaleah’s the most, she bought Bibinca which is a Filipino mochi like snack and it was so farting good. I bought pizzaaa.

After that we had to present our bio-cubes which is basically a box withthe 6 sides were filled with information about us! But it was scary since we had to share it with the alumnis. My group consisted of Markwil(current class), Olivia and Naomi (freshmens). The freshmens gave great advice and we really bonded during the field trip! I will really keep those advice in mind.

After that we just hanged out on the sand and shared really great memories and it felt good without our electronic devices:). Lastly at the end of the day around 8:00p.m we walked to Waikiki and watched the fireworks! They were soooo pretty and it was really memorable because of the people I was with. During the bus ride home me and Bella couldn’t stop laughing, it was so funny because we kept taking funny pictures, even though almost everyone was sleeping! But it was REALLY fun and i got a very bad sunburn:(.

Another event that will stick with me is Schedule Pick-up, it was excruciatingly exhausting and I needed A LOT of social battery. Even though it was difficult it taught me perseverance and it’ll pay off especially since I’m helping people. But the first day which was 8th grade Schedule Pick-up was just unnecessarily hard. I just wanted to lay down on the floor and sleep. But of course I couldn’t since it’s VERY unprofessional, so I just treated myself a slurpee afterwards.(it was an great award) I think what got me through those 2 days was the lunchtime after that since i could catch up with my friends in different stations then me.

An additional memory i have is cleaning out i104, that was very very hectic, especially because i dirtied my new shoes in the dirty water, which that was very dumb of me to do. And some of those boxes were SO heavy and like i could feel my biceps growing by the minute(jk). I also vaguely remember those cabinet doors that had pictures from a while back, like 1980s back! And it was so weird seeing people our age in that decade, but so cool at the same time! One of the things i remember was very recent and that’s when me and Bella rode Mr.Ing’s golf cart, I was trying so hard not to laugh because it was so funny for no reason. But those cleaning days were lowkey tiring but it really improved our teamwork and I felt really productive!

I feel like it was these moments when leadership really got together to make something great happen, either it was growing bonds, cleaning, or just doing what we need to do in this program, that bought us together and I really enjoyed my summer because of this program and i really hope i can do it again next year.
