helloo!! we just came back from retreat and HOLY that will forever be a core memory! so it all started on october 8, a wednesday! I had to drag my big blue luggage to the car and I was sooo excited. Then I arrived at school and saw my leadership pals all huddled up! Then I walked up to them and I got more excited. We waited for a while then it started raining and I was like "oh crap there will be a lot of mosquitos and manwars." Then we boarded the bus and I sat alone because I'm a lonely person. JKJK. it was a pretty long ride tbhtbh. and like i was just thinking how it would look on the inside and everything. I kept thinking we were close but nope the bus kept going and going. but the house was super nice and BIGG and when we got there we had to get out real quick since we didn’t want to cause traffic and it was so cool i felt shivers.  We did things like unpacking and other things in our periods, things like planning for events and it was real chill and we made tons of posters and it was funny because we had no clue on what we were doing. Ysabella is really good at writing nicely for our posters. Then we ate burgers and it was yummers. I also swam and it was funny since we were swimming in knee high water!  But I also saw a cute tiny fish. I really enjoyed the breaks too because we got to explore the house. We also fixed our cots and it was super comfortable. Then we did orientation and we learned dances to the songs in KPOP DEMON HUNTERS and a lot of other things then period five had to do chopped after dinner, dinner was kalua pork. but our chopped was SOOO bad like holy.... i dont even wanna talk about it. period 3 did their chopped which was actually not bad at all. Then we slept and it was so doodoo for me, bc ariellakins stole my pillow and sheets and took up the space but its okay bc i lab her!!!

Then the next morning we woke up at 5:30am. I did not know I could accomplish that! Then we ate and after that we had a breakout with an alumni and it was janzen. For his session we had to make a hot air balloon and set our goals physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, and leadership-wise. That got me thinking! and we had 5 hours in total for our breaks and it was NICEEE. and then we had ms leilani for our next session and we made a turtle that had one of our Hawaiian words we learned during summer bridge. I chose the word ho' mau which means to never give up and continue striving. Then we had our talent shows and period 5 had to go first, u could clearly tell we were not ready and we kept telling sultan to twerk haheha. I could see Mr.ing's face was concerned. It was so fun though and the other period outfits were hilarious. There was squid game and lorax. It was so funny I could not stop laughing! Oh yeah we also  ate pancakes for breakfast, hotdogs for lunch and leadership dinner and that was AMAZING, TOTALLY BUSS!! I love leadership dinners and this time the corn was really good!! After dinner, period 1 had their chopped, when I saw the presentation I knew they won, the berry cool whip was GENIUS. Then 7th graders planned the 8th grade grad slides and that was one of my best leadership moments so far because we actually locked in and I was super proud of our plan and that everyone participated. After that we had a long long talk about random subjects and picked a side to defend. and that was SOO fun. I got called a nerd because I kept yapping but it was really cool. We even asked the alumni their opinion like "does pineapple belong on pizza" and things like "are aliens real" . It was funny! We were so serious about that! Then we had our smores and that was fun!! The fire was hottt! Also on our breaks we played outside and sat on rocks and communicated with spirits through an arizona can i personally think its real because we put it behind the wall so no wind could shake it and we asked if it was actually there and to shake if yes and it shook at no wind and flat surface. Super scary… also talking about scary, i was in the bathroom outside and when i turned on the water and there was laughing and when i stopped the water the laughing stopped and i literally thought someone was running around the bathroom since the laughter was like going round the room. I was super duper scared. Also there was humming and that freaked me out! Then i saw a figure by the mirror and sink and that was SCARYY… when I blinked it was gone and i dont remember the face at all but yea..  You might think I'm going insane but I promise that I'm not tripping and it also happened to Bella and Ariella. When we went to sleep aswell i heard knocking on the walls by our heads. And me and bella thought it was the alumnis tryna scare us but i dont think they would do that at 1 am. The 8th graders also thought it was the alumnis but gleyd’s said she heard it around 4 in the morning, that's super scary… but this night my sleep was GOOOOOOOD! But I was super homesick. And I was working on magic notes the whole day, I put my heart into every single one of those.

On our last day we woke up yet again at 5:30 am and that was harsh. But I slept really well. The first thing we did that I can recall was breakout with Reese and WOAHH i love her. She gave us advice for tons of things and she was super cool and I really resonated with her because she also went to kaimiloa and all of that.   Then we had a mini clean and everything and I locked in because I wanted it to get done. Thus we took pictures and it was coooool especially because Mr.Ing let us take funny photos and all. But looking at the results I look SLEEP DEPRIVED. But oh well… after,we had an interview brain storming and that was really scary because there will be a camera and all but when I went to the room to do the interview it wasn’t that scary even though I messed up and laughed. The questions were “what makes someone a leader”, “leadership moment” ,”what do you want to improve”, “goals for this school year” and “message to future self”. I liked my answers!! I kinda took a nap before that so no surprise if I looked very shabby. If ykyk, then we did a full clean like cleaning the bathrooms and sweeping the floors and all of that. I remember we ate spam bowls! That is my 2nd favorite meal because it's so yummy. Then we got a break and we went outside and played marco polo with a m&m bag on our heads so we couldn’t see and we also went to sit on the rocks and i climbed on the rocks and i stressed out bella because she thought i was going to fall( I DID NOT) afterwards we had orientation and we learned our last dance and it was chill!! The last thing we did was to sit down and reflect and see what will happen for quarter 2 and the GT things… I’m scared of the GTs. also our last meal there was fried noodles if you're wondering. Also 8th and 7th graders had a talk since there was some tension… but it was solved so dw!! Then we went home and that was something. The bus ride made me sleepy. But when I read magic notes it made me teary-eyed. <3<3 i love magic notes!!

My last summary paragraph is about the posters we made! Our first one was the reflection of the quarter, workdays, summer bridge, and everything we did. Our next one was Turkey trot and what outfit we should wear! I remember we put deep fried twinkies hahaha! And Elementary or Middle school dance comp theme I kinda forgot!! We put options like the 2000s and fairy tales!

Now for highlights and lowlights, my highlight is getting to bond with my friends especially the 7th graders because retreat definitely made our bonds stronger. And I really enjoyed spending time with everyone and it was full of laughter and smiles. My lowlight was that not everyone went. I wished everyone got to experience that! And it was the people

I don’t personally know that well so that was sad.  But it was no one's fault! So maybe next year!

A lesson learned was it's better to talk things out then let it be. How did I learn this? Well it began on Thursday night which was the second day of retreat. Us 7th graders were talking and debating and all those fun things, then the 8th graders came and said we were being too loud, and we got kinda upset because we weren’t even that loud, then the 8th grqaqders started playing with the alumnus and yelling which I don’t blame them since the game looked fun but we thought it was a bit unfair especially because they told us to quiet down. So because of that we kind of distanced ourselves from the 8th graders without noticing it ourselves and the 8th graders noticed for sure and the next day the 8th graders gathered all of us in a circle to talk about how we felt, that made me really let out how we felt and it was good to let it out. The 8th graders told us to say something they could improve on and something we like about them and that was kinda scary but it was effective!! I think talking it out was a super good idea and if we left it to be I think that the tension would be worse! So THANK YOU 8TH GRADERSS I LOVE YOUU!!❤️❤️❤️

If I could change anything about the retreat, it would be being more prepared because I know for a fact that Period 5 was not fully prepared for talent show and chopped, I won’t blame anyone but I take accountability because I should have told them to finish their part more but the past is in the past and it was still fun as it is. And atleast we made some people laugh by our goofy antics. But I feel like it would’ve been better if we put in more work. But we really tried our best and maybe next year if we survive, the talent show will be better!!
